Epic black metal from Wroclaw, Poland by Robert ‘Rob Darken’Fudali. Over the years, Graveland has evolved from a rickety,clickety-clackity raw black metal band to one that took on theoverall mood of Bathory’s Twilight of the Gods to build afoundation of triumphantly epic music. Band leader (and apparentlysole member these days) Rob Darken has made some pretty damn goodmusic during the years. ‘Blood Of Heroes’ is a fifteen minute, twosong EP that continues along the path of long songs and it’s hardnot to be mesmerised the entire time. From a gorgeous opening, avery creepy Arvo Part-ish choral bit, on to epic fuzzy metalscapes,reptitive hypnotic droning riffery, soaring majestic keyboards andstrangely haunting folky melodies buried under suffocating blackambience this is definitely a prime, albeit brief, slice ofbreathtaking blackness.
