Temple of Evil was summoned into existence in Nicosia in Cyprusback in mid-2008 during an unhallowed congregation performed toexpress its philosophy and its main ideology. Since then, they havebeen working on their first epos. An initially independentlyrelease came out in December 2015 as a digital format only. Now wehave it on vinyl for the first time. The 7th Awakening is aruthless debut album. It features eight tracks of pureunadulterated black metal, summoned as an expression of personalmeditation in each individual’s reanimated inner spirits. Fierce,harsh black metal at first, but showing a melodic, pagan and deeplypersonal touch after a deeper listening session. Taking us back toa time when the genre was first incorporating these elements. Bandsthat come to mind are Rotting Christ, Emperor and perhapsSatyricon, all in their first few inceptions. Yet, with Temple OfEvil, the emphasis doesn’t seem to be on furious blast beats andaggression. Instead, this act focus on a more ritual andatmospheric approach.
