Darkenhold, a black metal act from South Eastern France, drawtheir influences heavily from the old Norwegian black metal scenewith the likes of Emperor, Satyricon and Taake forming the bulk oftheir sound, a heavily riff-centric strain of melodic black metal.Their debut album is melodic, atmospheric (and theatrical) blackmetal at its best. Similar albums to this would be: Dissection -Storm Of The Lights Bane, Dark Fortress - Tales From Eternal DuskAnd Profane Genocidal Creations. The music is varied and slightlyupbeat and a technical masterpiece. Besides from being similar tothe above mentioned bands Darkenhöld also has this fast n brutal,thrashy and chugging parts in a couple of songs that make themsound like Absu or Cobalt for brief moments. They also present themusicality of an early Opeth on some songs, which is a bitprogressive for a band like this. So give this band and album athorough listen-through and buy the album, likelyhood of this beinga disappointment is infinitesimal.
