Empyrium, a duo that started out as melodic black metal band butmorphed over the years into something much more nuanced andinteresting, blending the black metal with dark rock andacoustic-led folk music, to the point where the latter influencesbegan to overtake the more metallic elements quite considerably.Uber Den Sternen (Above The Stars) feature all the Empyriumhallmarks where the elegant and often hypnotic acoustic folk mixeswith those more metallic elements from their early days. The resultis really rather wonderful and a thoroughly a superb album. Theblending of disparate sounds, ideas, and imagery is very impressiveindeed, creating music that is dynamic, rich, engaging, dramatic,original, and so very beautiful. With Uber Den Sternen Empyrium mayjust have created their greatest and most accomplished work todate.
