Beskrivning
Black vinyl with gatefold cover
Battleroar is the leading epic metal band in Greece. Their mainsongwriter Kostas Tzortzis, tend to take long time between theiralbums, but he use the time well. Ages seem to have flown since Ifirst heard To Death and Beyond, but if you haven’t experienced TheWrathforge of Finis Mundi, you are missing some of the best epicmetal there is. Since 2008 To Death and Beyond Battleroar havebecome more mature and staid, as well as probably more symphonicand well produced on Blood of Legends, but the trajectory hasalways been up. Codex Epicus does not bring the edginess or gritback, and lowers the violin profile heard in Blood of Legendssignificantly, but it still wins with its musclewound riffs androusing melodies. The songs on Codex Epicus are driven largely by astrong vocal performance and galloping riffs, though the group arealso able to execute slower songs with an equal amount ofprecision. For a band that’s approaching the two decade mark intheir career, Codex Epicus shows no sign of slowing down. Ifanything, it shows the band still evolving as they write new music. To all the fans, Battleroar still got it, even if Codex Epicus hasless bravery than To Death And Beyond or is less ornate than BloodOf Legends.
