In 1994, Eike Freese, Andre Schumann and Oliver Fliegel formed adeath metal band called Dyer's Eve. One year later the name waschanged to Dark Age. The new name was inspired by a Vader songtitle, while their older one was inspired by a Metallica songtitle. In autumn 1995, they recorded their first demo DoubtfulExistence. In December 1995, keyboarder Martin Reichert and inJanuary 1996 guitarist Finn Dierks joined the band. Oliver Fliegelleft the band in 1996. After Finn Dierks moved to the US he wasreplaced by Jorn Schubert. In Summer 1998, Dark Age recorded theirfirst album entitled, The Fall. In 2000, the album Insurrectionfollowed and they played at Wacken Open Air. If you havent heardDark Age before then you will be blown away by the opening track"Trial By Fire". Its a great track even though it comes with an oddand muffled blast-beat. They mix melodic death metal with thetypical Gotheburg sound and if youre a fan of band such as Norther,Sentenced (Amok era), Without Grief then this is a band to checkout
