Highlights from Beocentral :
"The Beomaster 3400 was the centrepiece of B&O’s second quadraphonic Hi-Fi system. Simpler and cheaper than the previous Beomaster 6000 4channel, the 3400 nevertheless offered better performance.

The Beomaster 3400 was based on the Beomaster 2000.

Like the Beomaster 2000, the Beomaster 3400 used direct-coupled amplifiers powered from a split-supply. This alone ensured that the performance was in some respects better that that of the Beomaster 6000 4channel, and also meant that there was no need to house four bulky coupling capacitors inside the slim cabinet"

This UNIT came to me from a swap deal i made and it came with the error description of being HOT . This turned out to be true but a lot more needed repairs .

Unfortunately all vintage B&O hifi equipment suffers from various broken plastic parts.
Each model with its own typical failures and this one was no exception.

REPAIRS :
Electrical
- Broken BIAS Potentiometers in all 4 channels replaced/recalibrated.
- +26V power supply repaired/calibrated , various capacitors replaced.
- Indicator light bulps replaced with LED's adapted to perform in the circuitry like bulps.
Mechanical
- Wood cabinet , front left corner glued back together .
- Loose plastic parts in the FM scale refitted and glued in place.
- Various broken plastics in the FM DIAL assembly repaired/glued/reinforced.
- Torn FM DIAL STRING replaced with FISHINGLINE to add some flexibility so that it would not stress the repaired plastic parts as much.
- FM PRESETS , all plastic wheels were loose and pots not responding , wheels are now glued to the shaft of the pots which were cleaned and lubricated.
- ALL PUSHBOTTONS REEALIGNED and glued back in place , former repairs were ugly.
- 5 pin DIN sockets repaired/glued to chassis .
- Missing chassis/assembly screws replaced.
- Mandatory cleaning of Potentiometers/switches with contact cleaners/lubrication/anticorrosion spray.

TESTs:
The unit has likely been in storage for a long time so i have used this receiver as my daily system app. 3 months now and i opened it up again to check on the repairs . All looks good and i repeated electrical performance tests using spectrum analyzer test to verify all is working as it should this includes
THD/FREQ Response/Loudness/Tonecontrols/RIAA EQ. All good.

COSMETICS :
This is always a subjective oppinion but if you look for MINT/like NEW this one is not for you. Its not that bad although its a shame with the SCRATCHES in the BLACK ALUMINIUM FACEPLATE. Probably because the unit has been stacked with some other equiment. I have done my best to capture it on the pictures , a couple of larger ones and some minor ones around the FM DIAL WHEEL and around 100MHz . They might be made less visible but i have not attempted this. The veneer has a few small ones but i just dont have enoug pictures to show because i need pictures showing the packaging !

SHIPPING : I use TRADERA ONLY ! Which means i can only chose BRING as courier. They have strict size and weight conditions i have to meet which is why i PACK before i make the ADD so the shipping cost shown by TRADERA is the CORRECT ONE !

I suffer from a severe chronical STRESS condition which is why i take every measure to avoid any stress assosiated whit these auctions.

1. My packaging is evaluated sufficient to avoid any shipping damages , you see my packaging on the pictures attached.

2. In the unlikely event of shipping damage it is your own responsibility to forward any claims towards the shipping company and document the damage . I just cannot assist . So when you receive the package start taking pictures BEFORE any unpacking and as you unpack , this way you have the documentation you need.

3. There is NO RETURN and NO WARRANTY involved. I have done everything possible to detect any issues and correct failures. With VINTAGE HiFi it is to be expected that failures can surface ANY TIME and equipment requires periodic maintenance. Regardless of how many components i have replaced the majority are still vintage . It is no different than with a VETERAN CAR !
