Animal and plant-related objects
The sale of live animals, certain animal parts, and animal accessories is restricted on Tradera. For example, it is forbidden to sell ivory from animals such as elephants, hippos, narwhals, mammoths, and walruses.
Why do we have this rule?
The sale of certain animals, animal products, or plants is regulated by Swedish law, either because they are dangerous or because they belong to a protected species. For this reason, the sale of animal-related items is restricted on Tradera.

Permitted to sell, with restrictions
- Plants and plant parts, including seeds that are subject to phytosanitary certificate requirements, may be sold as long as the phytosanitary certificate is clearly stated in the advertisement. A seller located outside the EU is responsible for ensuring that the product being sold complies with the Swedish Board of Agriculture's guidelines.
- Stuffed animals, animal parts, and products listed in Annex A of the CITES list of endangered species, similar to species protected under the EU Regulation on the trade in wild animals and plants, may not be advertised on Tradera. However, it is permitted to sell these products if they are accompanied by a CITES certificate issued by the Swedish Board of Agriculture.
- If the animal is listed in Annex B or C of the CITES list of endangered species, the seller must be able to prove that the stuffed animal or animal parts were acquired legally. Information on any certificates or other available documents must be included in the description. In addition, all descriptions for stuffed animals must include exact information about the species and origin of the stuffed animal, to prove that the object is not protected.
