The Man with the Golden Gun is a 1974 British spy film, the ninth in the James Bond series produced by Eon Productions. It stars Roger Moore as the fictional British Secret Service agent James Bond, with Christopher Lee as the assassin Francisco Scaramanga, Britt Ekland as his girlfriend, and Maud Adams as a former Bond girl. The film was directed by Guy Hamilton, who had previously directed two other Bond films, Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever. The film was released in the United Kingdom on 18 December 1974, and in the United States on 20 June 1975. The film was a box office success, grossing over $97 million worldwide. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song for the title song, "The Man with the Golden Gun", written by John Barry and sung by Lulu.
