BESKRIVNING
The Marine Raiders were the elite soldiers of the WWII Marines and were the first USMC Special Operations team. They were the physical elite of the Corps, former mule and horse hostlers used to excruciatingly hard labor and difficult working conditions. The Raiders specialized in amphibious landings in dangerous territory, and were trained in extreme stealth. They were responsible for liberating PoW camps, and participated in heavy warfare throughout the war. These minifigs feature custom digital print Frog Skin Camo and Brickmania Netted M1 Pot Helmets.
OM UNIFORMENS ANVÄNDNING
In 1942, the Marine Raiders were the first to be issued the Frog Skin uniform, which was reversible with a five-color jungle pattern on a green background on one side and a three-color beach pattern with a tan background on the other side. The 41st Armored Infantry Regiment was one of the few American units briefly issued camouflage uniforms in the European theater, most notably during Operation Cobra in 1944 as part of the Normandy campaign.
The United States later issued the Frog Skin camouflage pattern to its Marines in the Korean War, though mostly for helmets as helmet covers. In 1961, the Cuban exiles Brigade 2506 were issued the Frog Skin pattern by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for the Bay of Pigs Invasion. During the Vietnam War, the United States Special Forces issued Frog Skin to the Montagnard for their guerrilla warfare activities. Navy SEALs and Rangers resorted to using the camo due to a lack of a standard camouflage. Army Special Forces advisers, sailors and Marines attached to the Military Assistance Command Vietnam – Naval Advisory Group and the CIDG also used it before Tigerstripe uniforms were issued.
