ABOUT THE MOVIE

South African Comedy film from year 1993.

PLOT

As children, Rhino and Zulu were best friends and went through thick and thin together. At least until Rhino fell in love with the snobby, racist Rowena. As a proof of love, she demanded that he shoot a can of Zulu with a gun, which meant the end of the friendship.

Twelve years later: Zulu went to America and is a regular guest in the federal prison as a petty criminal. After his last car theft, he is expelled and sent back to Africa, where the racist law enforcement officer Diehard is waiting for him. While driving to the community prison, Diehard realizes that he owns a scratch card with a profit in the millions. The smart prisoner takes this away from him and makes off with his company car.

Rhino doesn't have it any easier now. His ex-wife Rowena, now married to Diehard, claims ownership of his farm if he cannot repay his debts to her. He also has to take care of his adopted daughter Tienkie.

As luck would have it, the old friends' paths cross again. After initial difficulties, they agree to redeem the scratch card and share the winnings. They drive to the entertainment center, from where the check is to be broadcast live on television. But Diehard and Rowena are also after them with gun violence. While Tienkie watches "Kevin - Alone at Home" in the cinema, where she happens to meet and befriend the English Prince William, Rhino and Zulu try to go somewhere in the building. They get into one of the cloakrooms, where a makeup artist helps them camouflage themselves. Rhino is made up in black and Zulu is given the mask of a blonde, blue-eyed white man.

When Zulu encounters Rowena, he introduces herself to her as a racist baron and Rhino as his underpaid servant. She is delighted and invites the supposed aristocrats to dinner in her and Diehard's estate, where a gathering of the neo-Nazi group "V.U.R.Z." (Association of oppressed reactionaries of Central Africa) takes place.

A chain of unfortunate circumstances exposes their camouflage and Diehard transports them to the Crocodile Gorge, where, if they don't hand out the check, he wants to accuse them of wild animals.

But Tienkie and Prince William liberate Rhino and Zulu and, besides, make life hard for Diehard and Rowena with nasty tricks inspired by their cinema attendance.

In the end, the good wins, Diehard and Rowena are eliminated, the friendship between Rhino and Zulu is restored and it turns out that Tienkie is actually Zulu's daughter, who was only born after he had gone to the USA.
