Active for 7 years within the 80s French heavy metal scene,Mistreated called it quits shortly after releasing their very firstfull-length record. Having performed more than 700 shows duringtheir time, the dudes at Mistreated surely knew how to get thecrowd going, which was mainly conceived as a result of theiranthemic approach to writing music. Their one and only album,Premiere Intervention, was released in 1988 and considered a primeexample of France’s impact on the entirety of heavy metal. Beforethat album the band released a 6-track demo in 1986 and two yearsearlier their debut, this vinyl single Liberte. Many of the Frenchbands were heavily influenced by the likes of Accept, Iron Maidenand Judas Priest, and attempted to reproduce that style asauthentically as possible, all while singing in their nativelanguage (which just added on to the mystical aspect of theirsound). The French were big on melody, and much like the Swedes,produced some of the most compelling chorus lines ever heard. TheA-side Liberte was re-recorded for the debut album and its a greattrack that makes you understand why these guys were so praisedwithin the underground scene. The B-side Atlas were exclusive forthis single.
