The most influential and successful of all European thrash metalbands (despite some competition from outfits such as Sodom,Destruction, and Tankard). Germany’s Kreator were still known asTormentor when their first two demo tapes, one fittingly namedBlitzkrieg (1983), and the other End of the World (1984), fell intothe hands of thousands of heavy metal fans engaging in the era’sbustling underground tape-trading network. Positive word of mouthsoon attracted the attention of Germany’s own metal start-up, NoiseRecords, which signed the newly re-christened Kreator to a deal andimmediately put them to work on their first album. Recorded in justten days at Berlin’s Musiclab Studios, 1985’s Endless Pain was asavage debut, but its crude thrashing quickly had the undergroundmetal world abuzz with excitement. Endless Pain was recorded inMarch of 1985 and released in October of 1985. Between that timethe band were doing a lot of rehearsals to be prepare to hit theroad.
