A musical jewel of timeless quality, with a “lofty” rock / jazz combined with titles in avant-garde composition. Unmistakable musyl sound of the first hour. With the “Kia Kia” also located on RoZZ, the perfect fusion of different musical styles was initiated. Perhaps this music still sounds so up-to-date today, because it was simply too far ahead of its time, for a publisher to be interested in it. RoZZ (dedicated to the “dumb H”, because it may never be at the beginning)
In 1973 the LP (LS 502) and the Humanic-Single (O.119 107) were released in Vienna, with the “Ein Freund went to America” ??after a poem by Peter Rosegger and “Body-Schuh” Was recorded. 13,000 pieces of singles are given away, 1,000 copies of the LP are printed - it becomes a coveted collection.
Both records in the rockjazz style - title in odd bars (5/4, 7/8, 12/4 and poly rhythms) or as a fusion of 12-tone music with simple pentatonic, Kia Kia, a song from Afghanistan in the ‘Musyl & Joseppa-Stil '- have been out of print since the year of the show. A music for singing, guitar, keyboard, piano, bass, percussion and drums. The recordings were made in the Motiva Studio in 2-track technology.
Why is the LP of the Styrian duo's Musyl & Joseppa so rare, the unfortunately recently passed Joseppa at the opening of the Styrian Rockarchivs told me: 1.000 pieces were pressed. More than half of them were destroyed as they camped on a hot summer day in a vehicle!
The cover is oversized and is fixed by a metal clip at the top edge. There were two single releases to the LP. One of them contains the NON-LP Track 'Body Shoe'.
In the 1960s, Paul Musyl, with his group “Pauli & Wir”, played ambitious cover versions, as the Joseppa, who had grown up in Afghanistan, came to the band in about the year 1969. When the two main protagonists went all other musicians, the two took the occasion , To gain experience with various musicians in Germany, Belgium, Holland and the USA.
Once again in Austria, they combined a wide variety of occupations and began to implement their ideas in their own compositions under the new band name “Musyl & Joseppa”.
The first LP “Rozz” was produced in 1973, an unusual mixture of rock and jazz, in equally unusual, varied instrumentation (eg string quartet).
The single “A friend went to America” ??was decoupled, a setting of a Peter Rosegger poem, which nobody wanted to have until the commercial manager HG Haberl heard it and pressed as a commercial single for the company Humanic … The song became a great one Hit and later in America used as a signing at “Radio Edelweiß”.
“Musyl & Joseppa” released more records and CDs, produced for film, television, radio and commercials, arranged annual midnight concerts, composed the music for the Pope's meeting with youth in Vienna's Praterstadion in 1983, and the interreligious meeting with the Dalai Lama And won the Peace Song Contest in Ireland in 1999 with the song “No more war”.
Many musicians from the Styrian music scene collaborated with “Musyl and Joseppa”, whose names would be the name of the book.
The out-of-print LPs “Rozz” and “Das Mädchen mit den Schwefelhölzchen” were reissued in 2010 as CDsIn return, “Musyl & Joseppa” form in many variations and find their singular and unique sound with a string quartet.
